Support for MI VMEbus Drivers Extended!

August 21, 2000 posted by Blog Import

The MI VMEbus driver support added earlier this year has been extended to encompass VMEbus slave mode. This means that not only can MVME147 and MVME167 boards access slave boards over the VMEbus, but other VMEbus master boards can access memory reserved for this purpose on the MVME147 and MVME167. This is especially useful for VMEbus boards which can perform DMA transfers directly into host memory. Work is still ongoing to fully complete this feature, but it is functional enough to be useful right now. [0 comments]

Progress on Dreamcast port

July 15, 2000 posted by Blog Import

The port of the NetBSD operating system to Sega's Dreamcast game console is reaching a state where it's near to single user mode. Utilizing the NetBSD/evbsh3 port's simple structure and the fact that it supports both big and little endian architectures as well as the general clean design of the NetBSD operating system helped for this port. Device drivers for the game pad, keyboard etc. are next on the todo-list of Saitoh Masanobu, who works on this port. [0 comments]
